Dear Friends of Seven Seas Press,
We are thrilled to announce the publication of our new book, Makana is a Gift, and the bilingual version, Makana es un Regalo, by award-winning author, Janet Lucy.
Makana is a Gift is the story of a little green sea turtle's soul-searching quest for identity and purpose, and his all too common life-threatening encounter with a plastic bag he mistakes for a jellyfish. Makana's journey illuminates the perils of plastic pollution, and the need for ocean conservation and sea turtle protection. The story comes alive with vibrant, life-like watercolors by supremely talented watercolor artist Alexis Cantu, originally from Mexico and now living in the Netherlands. A "Discussion & Activities Guide" and "Resources" are included.
This summer at Seven Seas Press, we're partnering with the Goleta Valley Library to raise funds to gift 400 books to the children participating in their Summer Reading Program, themed "Oceans of Possibilities."
Please consider purchasing Makana is a Gift through our Indiegogo campaign in the month of July. Through the campaign you can purchase books in English or bilingual versions, paperback and hardcover, and donate a book at the same time.
Through your generous support, we've donated close to 1000 books locally and internationally in our four and a half years of operation. We deeply value our local and international partners and donors, and are always actively seeking ways to expand this network and outreach. If you're inspired, please share our campaign.
